Spinning around

In one of the gallery rooms I symmetrically assembled two ceiling fans. Arranged facing each other, on the celing floor, they spin in reverse directions, reminiscent of a dance. Their visual form and the sound they produce appropriates and dynamizes the space, intensifying the circulation of air and energy. The reconstructed “environment” is illumi- nated by constant, artificial lighting from the window. The installation is accompanied by a video - performance in which, as fast as possible, I spin around - frequently falling in the process. The sound produced by the propellers in the room sets the rhythm for the recording. In front of the room, on the wall, is a video in which I struggle with the wind, while walking through the desert. The recording plays role of an intro, referring to the experience that I partially tried to reconstruct.

The work was presented in  TSE Art Destination (2018) during Astana Art Show as a effect of the Ghost expedition residency

W jednym z pomieszczeń galerii zestawiam symetrycznie dwa sufitowe wiatraki. Ułożone przeciwstawnie wobec siebie kręcą się w odwrotnych kierunkach, przywodząc na myśl mechaniczny taniec. Ich wizualna forma jak i produkowany przez nie dźwięk zawłaszcza i dynamizuje przestrzeń, intensyfikując cyrkulację powietrza i energii. Zrekonstruowane „środowisko” oświetlane jest przez stałe, sztuczne oświetlenie za okna. Instalacji towarzyszy wideo performance w którym szybko jak tylko to możliwe kręcę się wokół własnej osi, ciągłość wirowania przerywana jest upadkami. Dźwięk wytwarzany przez wiatraki w pomieszczeniu wybija rytm dla nagrania. Przed wejściem do pomieszczenia, na ścianie, wyświetlane jest wideo w którym walczę z oporem powietrza, idąc przez pustynię. Nagranie pełni funkcje intro, odnosi się do doświadczenia, które częściowo próbowałem zrekonstruować.

Instalacja była prezentowana w TSE Art Destination (2018) podczas Astana Art Show jako efekt rezydencji Ghost expedition.
